If you don’t want to be subject to being “watched and cataloged by a big brother”, don’t buy a pass. Pretty simple. Buying an EpicMix pass IS your “opt in”.
Thousands of people had pre-purchased their passes prior to VR announcing they will be using this tracking system. Thousands more still do not know what this system does. I agree with Lee Tien, senior staff attorney for the pro-privacy Electronic Frontier Foundation.
“Any kind of technology that creates an automatic tracking system by default violates people’s general expectation — not just of privacy but of the world,” “You are not expecting to be tracked.”
Consumers should not be forced to opt-in. We are on Forest Service land after all, not private property. And because this is the first year of any type of mass tracking, there is no precedent to support your point of view. I believe this is the time for consumers to voice their opinion to the company.
It’s nice to know good people are rejecting Big Brother fascist tracking, tracing, and databasing. Thank you!
